Presidents Cup Final Winners:  Badu Sports FC

The Camden Sunday Football League opening game of the season took place at Hackney Marshes, with Badu Sports FC taking the spoils in a 3-1 victory over The Hurricanes.

The first half was closely contested, The Hurricanes shading possession but against the run of play Badu took the lead in the 25th minute with a goal from Joshua Warburton.  The game continued to sway back and forth with The Hurricanes searching for an equaliser but to no avail.  Badu went in to half time 1-0 up and time to regroup.

The second half started in a similar fashion to the first half but a fortuitous goal from Nana Badu extended Badu’s lead to 2-0.  Nana Badu put pressure on The Hurricanes goalkeeper whose clearance ricocheted off Nana and in to the goal. The Hurricanes tried hard to get back into the game but resolute defending by Badu kept them at bay.

In the 77th minute a third goad by Hanzel Forbes provided Badu with a three goal cushion that would prove to be too much for The Hurricanes to overcome.  However, in the 88th minute, complacency by the Badu goalkeeper rewarded The Hurricanes with a penalty which was neatly slotted away by Denis Crushell but unfortunately for The Hurricanes this was to be a consolation goal.  Badu played out the last few minutes of the game to win the Presidents Cup 3-1.

Congratulations to Badu Sports FC on getting their first piece of silverware on the table, let’s see what the new 2016-17 season has in store for them.
