Recap

Philippine FC  5-3  Surreal Madrid

Match Summary: (Philippine FC)

The last match of the year saw PFC face up to Surreal Madrid in a top of the table clash and both were out to end the year on a positive note.

The team was back to near full capacity with all important players returning to rejuvenate the group after the bare bone squad from the cup match prior. With a familiar team PFC took an early lead in the first 6 minutes when Ishan Al-Thamir was put through by Jesse Arroyo and slotted home.   Just 3 minutes later the ball was in the back of the net but this time for Surreal Madrid when PFC suffered a familiar lapse in concentration.

From the kick off, Surreal threatened with well-timed balls over the top trying to catch the defence off guard but they were well prepared. PFC were awarded a free kick from the half way line which Rob DePeazer sent in a direct ball that was met by the head of Jeff Burgin and resulted in the ball looping over the on rushing keeper. The team then could have been 3 goals to the good but Eddie Guevarra’s sweetly taken shot from 25 years out crashed against the cross bar.

2nd half was a much better game for the neutrals seeing 5 goals go in. The manager made 2 changes after 15 mins introducing Graeme Ryan for Richie Caparros and Rommel Ongcoy for Jesse Arroyo. Graeme didn’t have to wait long to get involved when he latched on to a pass from Ishan who fought his way through the defence and sent the ball in, Graeme slotted home with virtually his first touch of the ball. Surreal pulled one back when their striker hit a laboured shot which crept in just pass the keepers finger tips who was slow to react.  Graeme was on the opposite end of the 4th goal when he put through Ishan who side footed in the ball to the back of the goal.

Surreal pulled another goal back when their striker shot in the area and squeezed past the diving keeper. The 5th goal was as route 1 as it could get, when Ronald Calma kicked the ball down the field and the ball bounced over the Surreal players and landed for Greame to  get his 2nd goal.

This win sees the boys win all their December games and go into the new year with more hunger and drive to win the League in their debut season.
