Recap

LFA Sunday Junior Cup – 3rd Round

Philippine FC  3-2  Kucukkaymakli

Match Summary:  (Philippine FC)

Hackney Marshes was treated to a come back match that only a English cup can provide.

Philippine FC hosted Kucuk Kaymakli on a crisp sunny Sunday morning, looking to carry on their cup run and progress through the round. In the early part of the game, Kucuk Kaymakli pressurised and knocked the ball around with ease and were rewarded with an early goal.

It looked like it wouldn’t be PFC’s day when they failed to clear a corner and let in a goal with majority of the first half to play. PFC had their chances but didn’t capitalise on them.

With a honest and truthful team talk at half time the boys went in the 2nd half determined and this was evident with the boys creating numerous chances. Robert DePeazer with a trademark cross field ball finding Ishan Al-Thamir who took on 3 players and passed them all, squaring it to the supporting Richie Caparros who slotted it in the back of the net – game on.

Richie Caparros was at it again running at the opposition defence turning them in and out and it all proved too much for the defence, who ended up taking out the striker and conceding a penalty. There was only ever going to be one person to take the penalty and Rob DePeazer knew it, with the ball in a hand and setting in on the spot, Rob cooly sent the keeper the wrong way with a nonchalant strike – 2-2!

With less than a minute to go PFC were rewarded a free kick in their own half to which Rob floated a ball to the goal area which 2 defenders missed with their headers and landed level with the right foot of Danny Blair who side footed it to the back of the net with less than 20 secs to go.

Final whistle and scenes of great celebrations from the boys, they deserved the celebrations due to the hard fought comeback.
