Match Summary: (Philippine FC)
With the ‘feel good feeling’ present within the Philippine FC squad after their 5-1 debut win, the team went into their game against FC Gyro full of confidence. With the match an even back and forth and a few warnings already for PFC from set pieces, they fell behind when a free kick on the right was floated to the back post and headed across goal for a simple header in. With a minute to go for the break, PFC went 2-0 down when a corner was cleared, with the ball dropping to a Gyro player who curled in an effort from outside of the box.
With the boys disappointed with the performance of the 1st half, they re-grouped with a motivated team talk from Coach Hillier. Straight from the whistle, PFC played with their natural style of play and this was noticeable with Gyro on the back foot for the majority of the second half.
The first goal for PFC came when Sean Vahdat won the ball in his own half and sent the ball to Ishan Al-Thamir who drove forward and sent a shot which came off the keeper and fell to Richie Capparos, who slotted the ball into the net from a tight angle. The equaliser came shortly after the first – with constant pressure, Haseeb Majeed ran down the right and sent in a teasing ball across goal to which Ishan Al-Thamir connected with and was too hot for the keeper to handle. With a few minutes remaining PFC bombarded the opposition but could not find the winner.
Our Man-of-the-Match was Haseeb Majeed.
