Recap

Final Score:  Surreal Madrid  3 – 1  Chalk Scratchings

Match Summary: (Surreal Madrid)

Smashing win again for Surreal Madrid, backing the first weeks performance.  2 wins from 2 and Surreal need to continue this momentum. Tremendous team performance but also special mention to keeper Gavin Home who pulled off a world class save. The like has probably never been seen on the marshes before.

Our Man-of-the-Match was Gavin Home

Rowan Lewin, Surreal Madrid

Match Summary:  (Chalk Scratchings)

Scratchings came off second best in a pretty even contest, having had a decent amount of possession and creating some good chances. We carried on from last week in terms of playing the ball out from the back and move the ball up the wings.

Although both teams had some early possession and made inroads into each other’s territory, we arguably started the game the better of the two sides. So it was unfortunate that we went 1-0 down to a scrappy goal that came as the result of a throw in. We soon struck back from one of our own throw-ins, a thunderbolt from Cary headed in by Joe.

We perhaps had a shout for penalty in the first half, and a had a few half decent chances, forcing their keeper into a few saves and nearly scoring from a corner. However, Surreal scored again to go into HT with the advantage. A decent goal on the break down our right hand side, well crossed low into the box.

Second half we came out strongly, great move down our left wing worked across to Clarke, who unleashed the hammer and forced the keeper into a decent save, and setting the tone for the second half. A very good. goalkeeping performance kept us out on several occasions. However, we tired through the second half, and with a few players carrying small injuries and chasing the game we were exposed a couple of times, and they eventually got a third. We went down to 10, losing Ed Day to a nasty head injury and from then never looked like getting back into it.

Difficult to say what went wrong this week, on another day I think we would have won the game with a similar performance.

MoM: Dave Skinner – dropped back to centre back for last 15 mins and worked really hard right to the end.
